The Glen Innes Highlands community has been hit hard with the ongoing drought and the recent bushfire crisis. There has been a huge impact on our agricultural industry and the local economy, especially our small businesses. Support from travellers visiting the region will go a long way towards helping Glen Innes Highlands recover and thrive again. Every little bit counts, bring an #emptyesky, stay for a weekend, have a meal at a local cafe or restaurant, explore our local art galleries and museums and enjoy all the attractions our region has to offer.

Experience distinctive seasons with ‘air conditioned’ summers, stunning autumn colours, brisk winter mornings with the occasional dusting of snow before the awakening of spring’s colourful landscape.

Try your luck fossicking in one of the world’s richest mineral diversity belts. Sapphires are one of the treasures to be found and local fossicking is suitable for beginners to treasure hunters!  Join us in March and take part in the Minerama Fossicking Gem & Jewellery Show with field trips, trader stalls and demonstrations.

The Heritage Walk or Drive is not to be missed – download our Heritage App to guide you around town to over 50 Heritage Listed Buildings. Stop into the Land of the Beardies History House to get lost in time – cups of tea are free!
