With spring in the air and winter fading away, it’s time for a thorough spring clean to freshen up your home. Try these five unconventional spring cleaning tips to add a creative twist to your cleaning routine…

  1. Tech TLC

Give your electronics some attention. Dust and clean your computer keyboard, TV remote, and other gadgets using compressed air and microfibre cloths. It can even improve their performance and extend their lifespan.

  1. Scent refresh

Create your own natural air fresheners. Simmer a pot of water with citrus peels (lemon, orange, and grapefruit peels are good choices), herbs such as rosemary, thyme or mint, and spices including cinnamon sticks and star anise for a delightful aroma you can spray at will. You can also place small bowls of baking soda infused with essential oils around the house to absorb odours.

  1. Unearth forgotten treasures

Dedicate a day to explore forgotten nooks and crannies. Look under furniture, in the back of cupboards, and in drawers you rarely open. Who knows what interesting items you might rediscover!

  1. Artful dusting

Turn dusting into an art project. Use a clean paintbrush or makeup brush to delicately remove dust from intricate items like decorative figurines, lampshades, or picture frames. It’s a fun way to combine cleaning and creativity.

  1. Feng Shui sweep

Approach cleaning from a feng shui perspective. As you clean, imagine you’re clearing stagnant energy and making space for fresh, positive vibes. Rearrange furniture and décor to allow for clear paths and living spaces which is said to promote better energy flow and harmony.
