NSW Seniors Festival 2018

In it’s 60th year the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival will run from Wednesday 4 April to Sunday 15 April. The theme of the 2018 Festival is Let’s Do More Together.

The NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere, reaching up to 500,000 seniors each year. If you are over 60, NSW Seniors Festival gives you the chance to make new friends or get together with old ones at an array of local community events, many which are free or heavily discounted.

Presented by the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS), NSW Seniors Festival is designed to celebrate the role seniors play and the contributions they make to the NSW

Every year during NSW Seniors Festival, government, community and commercial organisations hold hundreds of events across the state, encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation, health, good nutrition and much more!

There are plenty of events to choose from: Native Plant Propagation Workshop; Free Hearing, Eye and Dentures Checks; Seafood Buffet Lunch Cruise; Backyard Bus Tour in Shoalhaven; Seniors Karoke; Art is Ageless Exhibition, the list is endless!

Two highlights are:

NSW Seniors Festival Comedy Show

Is 60 the new 40? Do grandparents do it better? Is retirement harder than going to work every day?

Join some of Australia’s top comedians as they take on these questions and more, with hilarious results.

Laugh out loud with Gary Elk, Tommy Dean, Peter Berner, Chris Radburn, Peter Meisel, James Smith and Lady Sings it Better at the NSW Seniors Festival Comedy Show. The event will be hosted by Jean Kittson and is held in partnership between City of Sydney and NSW Seniors Festival.

When: Wednesday 11 April from 11am – 12.30 noon

Where: Sydney Town Hall, 483 George Street Sydney

Cost: Free, tickets will be available online from Moshtix from 12 March

Chinese Garden of Friendship

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the NSW Seniors Festival, the Chinese Garden of Friendship in Darling Harbour is hosting a specially curated program of events and activities from 4 – 13 April for seniors to enjoy.

With a gold coin entry for seniors, escape the hustle and bustle of the city to this beautiful and secluded garden for some shade, serenity, and to experience the many activities on offer. Take a tour and see the amazing flora, indulge in some tea tasting, enjoy demonstrations and workshops in Chinese arts, and more.

NSW Seniors Festival Expo

The NSW Seniors Festival is an annual fun, free event featuring over 50 exhibitors and plenty of giveaways. The Expo takes place alongside the Premier’s Gala Concerts on Thursday 5 & Friday 6 April.

Where: Hall 4, Exhibition Centre, International Convention Centre (ICC), 14 Darling Drive, Sydney NSW 2000

When: Thursday 5 April, 9am – 6pm & Friday 6 April, 9am – 3pm

Cost: Free, bookings not required

Live entertainment

TV & Radio Broadcaster Susie Elelman will be hosting non-stop entertainment on the Rhythmboat Live Stage over two days. The stage will feature plenty of giveaways and performances from country music legend Frank Ifield, the NSW Police BandOscar Kami and Mamamia: A Tribute to ABBASee our full live stage program.

An evening at the Expo with special guest, Ray Martin

We’re delighted to be presenting an evening at the Expo, with special activities and performances kicking off from 4pm on Thursday 5 April.

Our friends from the Museum of Contemporary Art will be leading a special silk painting workshop. Darren Coggan will be performing a short acoustic set off the back of his spectacular performance at the Premier’s Gala Concerts. Special guest and Australian media legend, Ray Martin will be joining us to answer audience questions and reflect on his career highlights and life as a senior.

Limited seating available. Register your interest to secure a seat and for your chance to win a $300 gift card. Attendees who have not registered are welcome, but may have to stand.
