A few things to do before heading overseas.

How many times have you heard somebody say, ” make sure you travel overseas before you get too old’. Well I guess that would be ok if Australia was only the size of some European countries. As we all know it’s not.  In fact it is huge and diverse, and when you start to compare what we have with the rest of the world, it really is time to rethink some of these values.

The Queensland Beaches and coastline, simply the best, white sand, waves, and safe to swim in.  The Great Ocean Road of Victoria has coastline which would match California for views and without the traffic.  Tasmania offers the best of Europe, with small country towns, lush country side pebbles and stone paving, plus lots of history.  The aqua blue coastline of Western Australia will match any Mediterranean port.  Rolling pastures of the Southern Highlands, vast acreage of Queensland Cattle Stations, the alpine region of Victoria, wine regions, of The Hunter and Barossa valley and even the Margaret River, all so different but all so unique.

No other country can host as many different great events, starting with New Year’s Eve fireworks and the start of Sydney to Hobart yacht race, spectacular.

Melbourne for the start of the tennis season, Tour de South Australia for the cyclists, International Cricket in every state, come Easter there is the Running of the Stawell Gift foot race, or head to Philip Island for the motorbikes, Melbourne for the international flower Show, (half the crowds of Chelsea)  Christmas in July throughout the country.

As spring blooms so too do the flowers from Toowoomba, Floriade, Tulips, Berry, Jacaranda Festival and even the Renmark Rose Festival, or keep heading west to the wild flowers of Western Australia.  October sees grand Finals of epic proportions in all codes and the world’s best competing at Bathurst. Come November it’s not just Australia that comes to a stop to watch Flemington, these days telecast throughout the world.

Have I mentioned Uluru, Kakadu, Bungle Bungle, the Lost City, Lawn Hill Cobbold Gorge,  as you can see the list goes on and on and on.

More than likely some of these destinations will be the query that will be asked of you when travelling abroad, as they are on the international list of must do’s when in Australia, nothing more embarrassing than not having been to our own destinations, in your own country.

These are just some of the reasons why I am proud to be associated with All Australian Journeys, as our company takes more Australians to more regional destinations than any other operator.

Three of our most popular tours include the Kimberly 11 or 12 days luxury accommodation but the real Australia, with all flights included and every opportunity to have a cruise to experience the wildlife in abundance.

Broome WA

Broome to Perth, the last frontier, once again good accommodation and great opportunity to see the remote but gorgeous west coast.

Lawn Hill and the Gulf this is a tour of contrasts, almost every day is completely different than the day prior, one of our signature tours offering more diversity than any other, from Longreach, to paddling canoes in Lawn Hill, eating Seafood as the sunsets in Karumba, overnight at Undara lava tubes, or relaxing at Daydream Island before exploring Bunya Mountains, all of this in the one tour fantastic.

So before you rush overseas, stop and explore our own backyard, it really is amazing.
