Autumn is the time to recharge the batteries. The chaos of Christmas is over. The family has re-grouped.  All are back into the routines of the rat race. Work, school and daily duties.

There is so much to see and do on Lord Howe Island. Swimming, snorkelling, fishing, diving, surfing, windsurfing and Stand Up Paddling are popular. Treks and walks are too.

Walks can be guided or on your own. Ask at your accommodation There are group walks and trekking events year round. Climbing is big on the Island with experienced guides available for all grades. Lord Howe is a haven for sports lovers and enthusiasts. They hold an Open Golf Tournament in November each year. The bowling fraternity welcome visiting bowlers, hold weekly games and host big events. Surfers are spoiled for choice on an island with secret breaks hidden from all but the locals.

The Lord Howe Rockfest takes place in March, music and nightlife take over the Island of Dreams as hits echo over the Lagoon. Heaps of live performers and high quality music for a week of you life. Rockin on the Rock.

A kaleidoscope of colour awaits swimmers, snorkelers and divers on Lord Howe. So many vivid corals and fluorescent fish, it’s whirl of  sparkling shapes.

Lord Howe Reef is part of an underwater plateau known as the Lord Howe Rise with Middleton Reef, Chan Reef and Elizabeth Reef, making up the chain. These are around a days sailing from Lord Howe and the fishing is beyond description. Only 200 people have ever visited these reefs. You may be able to charter a boat for the overnight journey. You can stand in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a metre wide strip boat of sand here. A unique experience.

The Island hospital has 4 beds, but accidents rarely happen on this peaceful, crime free Island and the ones that do are mainly due to climbing accidents on the steep mountains. Remember not to take on anything too hard and you should be ok.
