The Government House Charity Open Day is a regular event on the Island, Open from 1.00pm to 3.30 pm in the afternoon on the 10th June people can visit this formal residence built in 1829. Check for other Open Days in different months. The Relay for Life is a community event to raise funds for Cancer.  Held on June 13th, the whole Island community gets behind this fine cause.

A public holiday is to be held for the Queen’s Birthday on Monday the 15th June.

The Ballroom Dancing Festival kicks up its heels from the 22nd until the 26th June. Dancers from Australia and New Zealand meet for a social week of Dancing and Holidaying on Norfolk Island. Some serious dance classes are to be had here as well, but fun is the main objective. First time dancers are welcomed with instructions abounding.

Uke plays are coming from Australia and New Zealand to join Norfolk players in a cultural mix of Australian, Maori and Pitcairn styles. If the theatre is more your thing then get ye to the Norfolk Theatre Festival from the 29th Sept-4th Oct. With plays by the night and workshops in the day plus an open competition to all amateur theatre companies – a one off play or an excerpt from a full length play. Another famous spot for shopping is the Norfolk Island Markets. The Sunday morning outdoor markets are run at the Bicentennial Complex. Local artwork is worth checking out, including handmade baskets and wood carvings of ships.

If you missed this year’s Easter Show in Australia don’t worry because the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Show is on Monday 12th October on the island. Held at Rawson Hall you’ll see cooking, art, local flora arrangements, flowers, vegetables displays, school special projects from the local students, equestrian events, cats and all sorts of food drink and entertainment.
